The aircraft carrier Nimitz and the missile cruiser Princeton are conducting search and rescue operations in the Northern part of the Arabian Sea after information about the disappearance of an American naval officer was received on September 6.
The incident was reported by the public relations department of the US Fifth fleet.
As a result of the search, it was found that the sailor was not on board the ship, as a result of which the “Man overboard” signal was given and search and rescue operations were launched, Fifth fleet spokeswoman Rebekah Rebarich told.
The search continued even after dark.
The name of the missing seaman, who was on board the aircraft carrier Nimitz, following existing rules, is not disclosed.
